Join a team: invitations and the open team
How the captain invites you
The captain has two ways to bring people in, both under Invite players.
- The team link. Each team has one link, and the captain can share it with anyone. It works until the registration deadline, until the squad is full, or until the captain presses Reset link, which stops the old link at once.
- Search. The captain can find people they have played games with by name, or anyone by their full email address. Search shows at most five results, and leaves out anyone who is already on a team in this tournament.
A pending invitation holds a place in the squad until you answer or the deadline passes. The captain can take it back with Cancel invite, which frees the place.
Answering an invitation
What the button says depends on how the division is priced.
- A division priced per player: Accept and pay €X. You join the team at the moment you pay. If your card is declined, nothing is charged and the invitation stays open.
- A division priced per team, or a free division: Accept. Joining is free. In a per-team division, the invitation shows the team fee for information, as "Team fee €60 · shared by the team".
You can always press Decline, and the captain can invite you again later.
Nobody can pay for a place for a player who has not accepted yet.
The open team
Each division may have one open team. It has no captain and nobody invites: anyone can join it.
- Press Join and pay €X to buy your own place, or Join in a free division.
- The open team always pays per player, also in a division priced per team. There, the organizer sets a separate price for a place on the open team.
- While the open team is In hold, the names of its players are visible to everyone.
If the open team is still short of its minimum when registration closes, the organizer either keeps it as it is or withdraws it and refunds everyone who paid.
Leaving, and being removed
All of this works only before the registration deadline. After it, the squad is locked.
- On the open team, you can leave yourself with Leave the team. You get back what you paid for your place.
- On a captained team, the captain can remove a player with Remove. There is no button to leave a captained team yourself: ask your captain.
What happens to the money depends on the division:
- Priced per player: the paid place goes back to whoever paid for it. That is you if you paid for yourself, or the captain if they covered you.
- Priced per team: a contribution to the team fee stays with the team. As the app puts it: "Your contribution stays with the team, even if you are no longer on it."
